Unite to Help the Storer Family Stay With Their Critically Injured Son

In July, a 25-year-old male from Derby was critically injured in New Zealand following an alleged assault at a local bar.

Josh Storer was involved in an accident in Auckland, which resulted in him being in intensive care and a drug induced coma. He also had to undergo lifesaving surgery to manage the swelling on his brain as a result of the incident. At this point, medics informed Josh’s family that “it is too early to say if he will survive, or if he will suffer life-changing damage.”

Throughout his tragedy, Josh’s family also had to experience the hardship that would eventually lead them to be by Josh’s side. Due to Auckland remaining in a strict lockdown, the Storer family worried they would have to quarantine, or at worst be denied entry. However, due to their situation they were exempt from this and finally reunited with Josh a month after the assault.

Since August, Josh has had his tracheostomy removed, which helped him breathe, and recently made improvements meaning that he can eat and drink without a feeding tube. Josh has been placed in a rehabilitation centre and he is working extremely hard to overcome every obstacle that his new reality has created. The Storer family can zoom call Josh, yet understandably this differs to the human interaction they all so desperately need.

The financial costs from this ordeal, such as flights, visas and a loss of earnings, have put the Storer family through great stress and so a family friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help elevate any pressure. Josh’s close friends organised a football fundraiser to support the Storer family and allow them to stay by Josh’s side throughout his recovery. Giveaway Life donated a Muc Off Pressure Washer bundle that was included in a raffle at the football fundraiser on Sunday 19th September. Please help the Storer family stay with Josh for as long as possible and donate whatever you can so that Josh does not have to worry about dealing with this alone. Please unite as one and raise as much as you can to give the Storer family one less worry at such a difficult time by donating here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-storer-family-get-to-josh
